HELLYEAH: 'No Decision Has Been Made' Regarding New Bassist
April 20, 2007HELLYEAH's publicist has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to refute a published report regarding the identity of the group's new bassist.
HardDrive Radio reported last night (Thursday, April 19) that former DAMAGEPLAN bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha has officially replaced Jerry Montano in HELLYEAH.
However, in an e-mail that was sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET this morning (Friday, April 20),the publicist said that "there has been no decision made or announced regarding a new bassist" for the band.
Although no explanation was given for Jerry Montano's departure, the group's publicist told Headbangers Ball Blog yesterday that "personal reasons on both sides" caused him to leave.
HELLYEAH will launch the "Fire It Up" tour on May 20 in Baltimore before heading over to Australia and making its way to England for an appearance at this year's Download festival.
HELLYEAH will take part in this summer's Family Values Tour. Also taking part in the trek are EVANESCENCE, ATREYU, TRIVIUM and FLYLEAF, alongside headliners KORN.
HELLYEAH's self-titled debut album sold just under 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.
A three-minute clip featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of HELLYEAH's "You Wouldn't Know" video has been posted at YouTube. The clip was shot on February 25, 2007 with director Nathan Cox in the parking lot of the Dallas, Texas stripclub owned by Vinnie Paul Abbott. The finished "You Wouldn't Know" video is available for viewing at this location.
